Inspired by Helen Creighton’s collection Bluenose Ghosts, this piece merges performance and installation, exploring local histories through traditional music, non-conventional shadow puppetry, digital and analog projection, movement and other modes of storytelling. Using folklore as a launching point to invoke themes of magic, human relationships, and fear through the alchemy of light and shadow, participants are led through the house into a magical and intimate storytelling experience.
We are excited to share this piece with the community after roughly a year of development, and two months spent last fall developing portions at the National Theatre School in Montreal under the advisement of puppeteer, designer, and performer, Clea Minaker. We are grateful for the support of the NTS Theatre Engaging Communities and the Helen Creighton Folklore Society.
(Unfortunately this is not a wheelchair accessible event as there are stairs involved.)
